Benefits for Wartime Veterans
Pension A - veteran with a limited income who is permanently and totally disabled or at least 65 years old can receive a monthly pension.
Medical Care - There are many ways a veteran may qualify for VA health care at more than 1,400 medical centers and clinics across the national. The Medical Benefits package includes preventative care, hospitalization, mental health services and prescription medicine. You must enroll and obtain a Veteran Identification Card. Contact your county office for assistance? Most county offices provide free transportation to the Cleveland VA Medical Center and the Sandusky Outpatient Clinic.
Aid and Attendance - This benefit can help pay for care in the home, skilled nursing facility, personal care home or assisted living community. A&A is a benefit for veterans and surviving spouses who require the regular attendance of another person to assist in bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication monitoring or other daily living activities. Individuals must qualify both medically and financially.
Ohio Veterans Homes - Ohio has two homes, in Sandusky and Georgetown, and both provide long-term nursing care for veterans. The Sandusky home also offers residential domiciliary care.
