Palliative Care
Patients experiencing uncontrolled pain symptoms but not yet ready for hospice can benefit from our palliative care services. Palliative means “to lessen the severity of” and begins whenever a patient is diagnosed with an illness that cannot be cured. Diagnosis can range from cancer to heart and lung disease or other chronic, incurable illnesses.
Stein has physicians who specialize in pain and symptom control. These trained professionals concentrate on not only providing comfort but also helping patients and families achieve their goals regarding quality of life. This palliative care consultation is a service available upon request from any physician. Our palliative care physician can consult in almost any setting. When it comes to cost, our philosophy remains the same. If a patient has private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, we will bill for services. If there is no insurance, services will be provided at no charge.
